Spring Campout 05/19-05/21!

Published on May 10, 2017,

It’s time to dust off the camping gear and join the Pack for our spring campout!  We will be heading back to beautiful Camp Fire Mountain near Mt. Vernon.  The amenities are great, so don’t be afraid, and the trout fishing is even better, so bring your poles (no license required at the camp).  The camp has canvas tents and cabins with bunks available for sleeping, unless you want to bring your own tent.  To keep waste and garbage to a minimum this campout, we are asking everyone to bring their own food and mess kits for eating- we will provide the s’mores on Saturday night.  Don’t worry if you don’t have camping cookware, there will be stoves, pots and pans, etc. available.  Siblings are welcome at this campout, as usual.  If you have any questions, contact your Den Leader, or Cubmaster Eddie Osten, eosten@outlook.com.  See you there!

Scouting For Food 2017

It’s time again for us to get out and help the West Seattle Food Bank collect food for any of our neighbors in need.  We had a great year last year, and with a little effort, I’m sure we can collect even more food this year.  This is a great way for our Pack to put in some service hours.  There are two days coming up that we will need your help distributing door-hangers and picking up bags of food.  The dates are:

Saturday, 03/11: Distribute Door Hangers

Saturday, 03/18: Pick Up Bags of Food and Deliver to the WSFB

For both days we will be meeting at 9:00 AM at the small green space across from the Admiral Congregational United Church, 4320 SW Hill St.  The first day we will be putting hangers on people’s doors to let them know we will be back the next week to pick up any food donations.  For the second day, we pick up those bags of food and deliver them to the food bank, then help them to sort it.

Please try to attend both days, the more help we have, the faster it goes.

Be sure to wear your Class A uniforms!

First, to help everyone get ready, the Pack is hosting two car-building events at the West Seattle Tool Library.  Whether you’re a first-timer that doesn’t know where to start, or an experienced builder that just needs to use a specialized PWD tool, we’ve got you covered.  Join us on Thursday 03/09, from 6:00 to 8:00, or on Saturday 03/11, from 11:00 to 1:00 at The Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, 4408 Delridge Way SW.  We will have PWD car kits on hand, so no need to worry if you haven’t gotten one yet.  Questions?  Contact Chris Paulus, chris@cmpaulus.com

Finally, the Pinewood Derby race itself will commence on Saturday 03/25 from 2:00 to 4:00 in Lanigan Gym at Holy Rosary School, 4102 42nd Ave. SW.  The race is open to all scouts, siblings and adults, with great prizes and trophies for all categories, so everyone is encourage to participate!  The gym will be open and the track will be set up starting at 11:00, for anyone who wants to take their car for a test run, to check-in early, or if you still need a little help getting your car race ready.  This event will also serve as our March Pack Meeting, so be sure to come, even if you don’t have a car built.  Questions?  Contact Eddie Osten, eosten@outlook.com

Published on December 11, 2016,

UPDATE:  The meeting location has been moved slightly to the Parish Hall (the newer building next door).  Class B shirts will be OK, things may get a little messy.  Also, gluten-free pizza will be available.  See you there!

Christmas is almost upon us!  That means it’s time for our December Pack Meeting this Wednesday, 12/14 at 6:30pm in the Holy Rosary School Hall.  We will be making Christmas tree ornaments again, but this year we will also have a special treat.  To celebrate our fantastic popcorn sales, we will be serving pizza for everyone (that includes parents, siblings and friends).  We will also be handing out the prizes to those popcorn sellers that earned them.  And, with any luck, if we have enough boys that are on the nice list, Santa Claus will be making an appearance!

This meeting is for the whole family- everyone is welcome to join in making ornaments and eating pizza, so please be sure to join us!

Merry Christmas!
